General Education Mobile (GEM)
The General Education Mobile program is designed to help US Air Force members fulfill their general education (GE) requirements in a mobile, non-traditional classroom format. Completing the GEM program is a key step toward earning your Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree at CCAF. GEM can be completed with five online courses at Ashford University, and if you already have some college experience, the number of courses required may be reduced.
Ashford University offers convenient online courses that can satisfy these GE requirements for your AAS degree at Community College of the Air Force:
Written Communication — ENG 121 English Composition I
Mathematics — MAT 222 Intermediate Algebra
Social Science — PSY 101 Introduction to Psychology and SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology
Oral Communication — SPE 103 Oral Communication
Humanities — Art 101 Art Appreciation, PHI 208 Ethics and Moral Reasoning, and ENG 225 Introduction to Film

Students who are eligible will not have to take more than 60 credits to complete one of these Ashford University degree programs:
- Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts
- Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management
- Bachelor of Arts in Sociology

Please note: when course materials purchased through the Ashford Bookstore are available in both electronic format and hard copy, if you prefer a physical textbook, you pay only the difference in cost and shipping.
