2007-2008 Season
The 2007 Ashford University women's soccer team expects to build on its most successful season under fourth year head coach Mick Regan with the addition of several key recruits and the return of seven starters from last year's squad.
The returning players for the Saints are headlined by first team All-Conference selection Claire Nestor who will lead the Saints from the midfield position. Samantha Green and Holly Maskell, who were also All-Conference selections last season, will provide experience from the defensive side of the field. Other returning players include JoElla Reedy, Korinne Burns, Erica Edens and Abbie Hornor. The Saints will also have to contend with the loss of four-year starter Janet Torres and last season's top scorer CC Cline.
Incoming players include Kira Favaro; Erika Jakobsen, a former All-Metro selection; Kelli Rogis, a former All-Conference selection; Zoe Delehanty, a former All-State selection; Alicia Hardin; Cassy Broderick and former All-Conference selection Katie Schulte.
With the mix of new and returning players, Regan is looking towards a bright future with this group of women. After recording their highest win total in three years, the Saints hope to improve upon that mark and make a statement within the conference.

Coach Mick Regan
(mick.regan@ashford.edu)
Coach Mick Regan is entering his fourth season as the head coach for men's and women's soccer at Ashford University. Originally from Leigh-on-Sea, England, a town 45 miles from London, Regan was part of a youth team that won a National Championship in England in 1994. He came to the US on a soccer scholarship to attend Marycrest International University in Davenport, Iowa. Regan completed a stellar playing career there and was named Athlete of the Year, All-Conference, All-Region, and an Academic All-American.
Upon graduation Regan accepted a position as a teacher at Davenport Assumption High School where he taught AP Biology and coached women's soccer. He led the team to back-to-back state championships in 2002 and 2003. In his years at AHS the team had a record of 41-8-3, which was a big turn around from the 2-11 record they had the year before he took over the reins.
He also coached at Davenport West High School, Davenport, Iowa, where he led the men's soccer team to a second place finish in the conference. "This was a huge achievement," he said, "because the year before they were 0-10 and dead last."
Regan was also an assistant coach at Augustana College from 2002-2004, when they won their first conference title in the school history. In 2004, Regan was named the Men's Coach of the Year for the Midwest Classic Conference.
Regan is also the Club Director of Quad Cities United Soccer Club, which is a premier club that showcases talent in the Quad City Area. Regan has a USSF "C" National Coaching License. Regan has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from MIU. He and his wife, Nikki, and sons, Liam and Luke, live in Eldridge, Iowa.

Assistant Coach Betsy West
(betsy.west@ashford.edu)
Elizabeth (Betsy) West, a native of Des Moines, Iowa, will join the Ashford University men's and women's soccer staff for the fall of 2007. West, an alumna of Mount St. Clare College, Ashford's predecessor, received All-Region recognition in both seasons for the Mount. She finished her career at St. Xavier University where she received back-to-back All-American honors, as well as being named Team MVP both years. West, who has a wealth of experience at both collegiate and club level, will assist Head Coach Mick Regan in all facets of the Saints' program, especially recruiting, training and logistics.
