Ashford University Men's Track and Field

2007-2008 Season

The 2008 Ashford men's track team looks to veteran leadership as it returns to competition this spring. Augustana College transfer Caleb Snyder (Winnebago, IL) should challenge for the Conference title in the long jump and Franklin Barnes (Chicago, IL) looks to improve on his 2006 Midwest Collegiate Conference performances and challenge for a top spot in the Conference in the 110 and 400 meter hurdles. Senior Chris Sheridan (Clinton, IA) returns for his senior year to compete in the shot put for the Saints.

Freshmen to watch include Geofrey Chepkonway from Kenya who has run a personal best of 1:49 in the 800m, Keven Griffin Jr. (East St. Louis, IL) who has cleared 15 feet in the pole vault and Andrew Drinkall (Hooppole, IL) who has also run sub 2:00 in the 800m. Maurice Blanton (Chicago, IL) and Duncan Vorgey (Camanche, IA) will add depth in the sprints for the Saints.

"With the mix of veterans and newcomers on the men's side, it will be exciting to watch the team mature as a group," said David Thompson, Head Field and Track Coach. "I am very excited to see this group improve through the course of the season."
