Ashford University Library

Smiling student reading book

The Ashford University® Library coordinates university-wide access to a variety of research resources in online, microform, and paper formats.

University librarians teach a course in Information Literacy as part of the Freshman Experience course and are available for assistance on campus, online, and by phone.

Instructional aids for resources and services are available on the library’s Information Rack (located in the reference area on the main level) and online in the Ashford Campus Library or Ashford Online Library pages, accessible through the Student Portal.

LIBRARY HOLDINGS

The library holdings include 100,000+ volumes, 650+ periodicals and journals, 70,000+ microform units, and 700+ audio/visual titles. You will also find study areas, computers, printers, copiers, and punch-binding and lamination services available for use. Here’s a quick guide to locate what you need:

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

In addition to the physical library, there are a number of resources that grant you access to additional materials. You can search the PrairieCat catalog for electronic materials, you can request materials from other libraries through the Interlibrary Loan service, and you can utilize the many online resources available.

PRAIRIECAT ONLINE PUBLIC ACCESS CATALOG
Ashford University is a member of PrairieCat, which is a regional consortium online catalog for Illinois and parts of Iowa. There are 300+ member libraries in this consortium, and our membership allows students and faculty to borrow materials from any of the 300 libraries.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN SERVICES
Interlibrary Loan allows you to borrow materials that are not currently in the Ashford Library. Students and faculty can go to the PrairieCat online catalog to reserve regional materials. If you need access to materials that are not available on PrairieCat, ask your librarian about borrowing from the OCLC national network.
