Jessica Alvarado, EdD
College of Education
Dr. Jessica Alvarado brings a great deal of experience to her job as educator, having taught at several K-12 grade levels before moving on to the college level. She currently teaches in Ashford University’s College of Education and serves as Chair of Ashford's Early Childhood Development, Early Childhood Education, and Early Childhood Education Administration programs. “Teaching allows me to be creative and gives me great joy! Ashford University prides itself in quality education and this is something that I am proud to be a part of.” She holds a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership and Change with a Media Studies emphasis from Fielding Graduate University, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from National University, a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from National University, a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from San Diego Christian College, and an Associate's degree in Education from Grossmont College. Her professional experience includes working as a teacher, teacher’s aide, director, administrator, residential care worker, early childhood program supervisor, and instructor. Dr. Alvarado believes that all students can learn and encourages them to ask for help when they need it, as she will go to great lengths to assist them in any way she can. Her favorite quote is by B. B. King: “The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.” Dr. Alvarado adds that she is married to a wonderful man who encourages her to do what she loves.
