He has served as both an entrepreneur in small business and as a consultant for large international organizations. He taught graduate level business, leadership, education, and counseling classes for multiple universities before coming to Ashford, where he teaches business and organizational courses. His core areas of experience and interest in the subjects of business and organization are change, culture, behavior and psychology, leadership, learning, performance improvement, coaching, and human resources.

His favorite thing about teaching is helping and encouraging students to achieve their goals and enrich their lives. He says, “I like to make the connection between the real world and the course topics so that students can immediately apply what they learn, share their own experiences, and make new discoveries. Ultimately this creates a rich learning experience that goes beyond the classroom and makes academic topics more relevant and practical for our adult learners.” He adds, “I know at Ashford I am working with an organization that is truly leading the pack in terms of serving working adults and professionals.” In addition to teaching, Dr. Rupe enjoys helping others through executive and career coaching, faith-based counseling, ministry work in the community, and occasional consulting work with small businesses and non-profits.
