Charles “Chick” West has had the pleasure and good fortune to teach at Ashford University for over thirty years. During that time, he also taught at Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL, from where he recently retired.
Chick began his career at Price Waterhouse Coopers in Chicago, IL. Then for many years he practiced as a CPA sole practitioner providing financial, accounting, and consulting services to individuals and businesses. He holds certifications as a CPA, CMA, CFM, and CGMA. He received a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School with majors in Finance and Accounting. Chick earned his Bachelor’s degree with high honors from the University of Illinois/Urbana in Business Administration with a Management Science concentration.
Chick’s teaching efforts have been recognized by Sauk Valley Community College (1986 Distinguished Service Award), the Illinois CPA Society (2000 Outstanding Educator of the Year Award), and by Ashford University (2009-2010 Faculty Excellence Award-Teaching).
Chick states that one of his life’s great pleasures is “working with the exceptional accounting students who come to Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa from all over the world.” Chick has been married to his wife, Becky, for 35 years. They are blessed with two grown children, Allyson West and Charles West.
