Dr. Pamela Murphy is an Assistant Professor in the College of Health, Human Services, and Science at Ashford University. She has a PhD in Educational Research and Evaluation with a concentration in Statistics from Virginia Tech, a Master of Business Administration from American International College, and a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Hampshire College. In the years between her master’s and doctoral degrees, Dr. Murphy also took courses in Education and Mathematics at Longwood University, the University of Central Arkansas, Danville Community College, and Virginia Tech. She has worked in a variety of fields and has taught high school students, adults preparing for the GED, undergraduates, and graduate students. Her subject areas vary widely, including computers, English, math, graphics and printing, statistics, and research methods. She has also been involved in original research in education, geriatrics, and psychology. Several of her papers have been published, and she has given multiple conference presentations. Dr. Murphy began with Ashford in May 2010 as an associate faculty member and became full-time in November 2012. She says of Ashford, “The organization is top quality, the courses are designed carefully, and they are constantly being reviewed to make sure they are up-to-date and have the appropriate level of academic rigor.” Dr. Murphy has two adult daughters and splits her time between Washington, DC and Halifax, VA.
