“Attending Ashford University was one of the best decisions that I have ever made.”

Ashford University Instructional Specialist and former Student Advisor Michelle Rasmussen has gotten to know a lot of students, but one in particular stands out for her. “I had a student by the name of Cleve Pennyfeather,” she says. “He lives on Tortola, one of the British Virgin Islands. He has his Ashford license plates on his car and is truly an Ashford ambassador.”

Cleve, 44, admits he does love to spread the word about Ashford, having introduced his sister and a coworker to the school, and for good reason. “Since my studies at Ashford, many doors have opened to me, both professionally and socially. Currently, I am the office manager at a law firm in the British Virgin Islands, my home country, that partners with seven law offices globally.” With a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management and a Master’s degree in Public Administration, Cleve feels he has Ashford to thank for attaining this level of professional success. “Without a doubt, attending Ashford University was one of the best decisions that I have ever made.”

He decided to attend Ashford because of the welcoming feeling that his Admissions Counselor offered him, and the insight he received into what was to come. “Although I took all online courses, whenever I was communicating with someone from Ashford, I was always left with the warm feeling you can only experience from being in a loving family.”

Cleve’s positive experience at Ashford went beyond his warm welcome. “Academically, I found the coursework to be challenging. My studies increased my level of creative and critical thinking.” Specifically, he says he now has a greater understanding of his job’s organizational structure, the dynamics of organizational behavior, and the important role that he plays within his organization. “My studies at Ashford have allowed me to conceptualize how the world is economically, socially, professionally, and spiritually interconnected.”

Cleve was so impressed by the faculty members and the instruction he received at Ashford that his next goal is to teach at Ashford himself. Mirroring the treatment he received, Cleve says he would like to “guide students through the curriculum; incorporate life experiences into academic learning; and encourage students to make their professional, personal, and spiritual mark on life.”
