Carolyn K. Broner, PhD
College of Business and Professional Studies
Dr. Carolyn K. Broner is an Assistant Professor in the College of Business and Professional Studies at Ashford University, where she focuses on courses in leadership and organizational behavior. She holds a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with a focus in Leadership and Organizational Change from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN and an MPA in Public Administration as well as a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies with a focus in business administration, psychology, and sociology from University of Michigan Dearborn, Dearborn, MI. As a former high school teacher, Dr. Broner’s experience working with adolescents combined with her certification training greatly impacts her teaching style. “If I were to sum up my teaching philosophy in one sentence I would say that students learn by doing. In other words, real learning has not occurred until students can actually apply what they have been taught.” Her favorite thing about teaching is experiencing the moment when you can tell that the information clicks in a student’s mind – the “aha moment.” She advises her students to master time management to maximize their time at Ashford. “It is not only important to aid in the balance of work and family, but proper time management also leads to effective learning.” Dr. Broner was born and raised in Detroit, MI, and currently resides in Brentwood, TN and is a pet-parent of a Labrador mix named Honey.
