College of Business and Professional Studies
Dr. Janet Fiorentino is an Assistant Professor in the College of Business and Professional Studies at Ashford University. She did her undergraduate work at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA in Communications with an emphasis in Creative Writing and Journalism. She attended law school at San Joaquin College of Law in Fresno, CA, where she obtained her JD of Law and passed the bar exam to practice law in California, where her law license remains current. Her focus has been research and contract work, though she has also worked as a Family Law Mediator and Small Claims Advisor. Her focus shifted from being an educator versus a litigator after falling in love with teaching, which she has done for fourteen years. In addition to teaching at Ashford, she teaches business law classes for University of Maryland University College and Moot Court/Legal Writing classes for University of District of Columbia Law School. “As the needs of my students change, as our laws are reinterpreted, my course changes and that helps to keep things fresh and interesting.” She loves to see students undergo transformations because of their college experiences. She and her boyfriend live in Alexandria, VA and are the proud parents to two cats and a dog. They love to explore DC's many museums and cultural activities. Dr. Fiorentino is also a novelist and has published three short stories and a novel through Kindle Direct Publishing.
