Jeral Kirwan, PhD

Dr. Jeral Kirwan is an Assistant Professor in the College of Health, Human Services, and Science at Ashford University. He holds a PhD in Educational Psychology and Research; an MS in Educational Psychology, specializing in Adult Education; a Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistics and Research in Education; and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His varied professional experience includes working as a research consultant, psychometrician, child and family counselor/case manager, psychological technician, and teacher at the university level. His professional experiences have helped him better demonstrate to students how knowledge from the classroom is applied in practice. “I have had the privilege of working with many fine students from a wide range of backgrounds here at Ashford University. I have also seen how students will go out of their way to help other students, which is amazing.” He believes teaching should be dynamic, and he incorporates changes every time he teaches a course. “My educational experiences, both as a student and teacher, have enlightened me to the fact that we each bring different knowledge, skills, and abilities that provide a wide range of perspectives. I learn as much from students as they do from me.” Dr. Kirwan lives in Knoxville, TN and has a daughter and a son.
