Dr. Adrianne Hanson is an Assistant Professor in the College of Liberal Arts at Ashford University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Barnard College, a Master of Science in Scottish Literature and Comparative Literature from the University of Edinburgh, and a Doctor of Philosophy in English from New York University. Dr. Hanson has worked in online education since 2001, first as a program chair at Jones International University, and then as faculty at Colorado Community Colleges Online and Buena Vista University. She taught at New York University and Ivy Tech Community College and also spent five years as an academic advisor for undergraduates in the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University. She credits advancements in technology for influencing her teaching style and helping her make her courses more interactive for students. “This makes the information more relevant to their chosen careers,” she says. “I love working with busy adult students who bring rich personal and professional experiences into the online classroom.” Dr. Hanson lives in beautiful Colorado with her husband, daughter, and several spoiled cats. When not teaching, she enjoys gluten-free cooking, gardening, walks in the mountains, and reading fiction.
