Dr. Robert S. (Steve) Woodsmall is an Assistant Professor in the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University. He earned his PhD in Organization and Management from Capella University, his Master of Business Administration from Webster University, and his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. He holds a post-Master’s certificate in Education with an emphasis on College Teaching from Capella University and has completed all but his thesis for his EdS in Educational Administration and Adult Education from Troy State University-Montgomery. Dr. Woodsmall is a retired Major from the US Air Force. He served in the engineering and education/training fields and held command positions in several assignments. He says, “One of my primary goals as a teacher is to promote self-directed learning. I encourage students to take an active role in deciding what and how to learn.” A native of Indiana, Dr. Woodsmall currently resides in Florida. He is an avid golfer, a SCUBA diver, and has officiated women’s college basketball and is presently an observer of officials for the Southeastern Conference (SEC). One of his favorite quotes is from Edmund Burke: "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
