Biography

"Students in my classes are invited to take an inventive role rather than a passive one."

Dr. Caroline Morrell is part of the core faculty in the Communication Arts department that is part of the Division of General Education at Ashford University. She holds a PhD in English Literature from University of Wisconsin -Milwaukee, a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Bowling Green State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the College of Wooster. Dr. Morrell has edited professional literary magazines, been published in numerous journals, and had her poetry chapbook published by dancing girl press. She has taught English courses in higher education since 2001 and has been instructing at Ashford since April 2013. She says, “Students in my classes are invited to take an inventive role rather than a passive one. I encourage them to pursue questions that they generate and allow them to lead the discussions of these questions. I push them to ask the questions they are most afraid of asking.” When not teaching, Dr. Morrell enjoys traveling, hiking, printmaking, and writing.
