Tony Valley, EdDCollege of Education
Dr. Tony Valley is an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at Ashford University. He earned his Doctor of Education with a specialization in Education Leadership from Portland State University. Earlier, he earned a Master of Science in Education degree at Western Oregon State College, and Bachelor’s degrees in both Education and History at Western Washington State College. Dr. Valley worked in public education for 31 years before joining the faculty at Ashford, seven of which were spent working in remote native villages in western Alaska. He has held positions as a teacher, coach, activities director, assistant principal, principal, federal programs director, and human resources director. Dr. Valley has been instructing at the college level for a decade – mostly teaching online education courses to would-be teachers and principals. His favorite thing about education is helping others. He says, “My own life has been greatly enriched through education. I am one of the few people in my family to have graduated from high school and am the first to attend college. As a result, my aim in my work has been to help people make their lives better through education.” Dr. Valley describes his experience at Ashford as “exceptional” and says he has worked hard to create a great classroom experience for his students, adding, “I have been very pleased with how serious my students are, how hard they work, and with the quality of their efforts. This makes Ashford a great place to teach.” He resides in Silverton, OR with his wife Pam. Their two adult sons, Chris and Ryan, also live in Silverton.
