Dr. Adam Selhorst, originally of Columbus, OH, is the interim Executive Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. He is also an Assistant Professor who oversees the Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies as the program's Chair. With a unique background in environmental science and public policy, he holds his BA from Kenyon College in Biology, his MA from The Ohio State University in Public Policy and Management, and an MS and PhD in Environmental Science from The Ohio State University. Dr. Selhorst’s previous research has focused on urbanization and agriculture and their affects on global climate change. He has held graduate fellowships with the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Manoa, HI and the National Science Foundation; has been a lecturer in Biology at Leeward Community College in Pearl City, HI; and has been published in scientific journals and books. He says he was drawn to teach at Ashford because he can help shape a program that will go on to educate a host of future employees looking to solve many of the problems associated with environmental preservation. “I especially enjoy teaching at Ashford as I can reach out to students all across the country simultaneously.” He advises students to go out and utilize what they learn at Ashford through internships, entry-level positions, and by even shadowing those in their new prospective field. Dr. Selhorst lives in San Diego, CA with his chocolate lab, Einstein, and is an avid triathlete, pianist, guitarist, and freelance photographer.
