Dr. Bethany Heywood is an Assistant Professor in the College of Liberal Arts at Ashford University. She earned her PhD in Anthropological Studies with a focus on the Cognitive Science of Religion from the Institute of Cognition and Culture at Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland, and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Religion from the University of Vermont. Dr. Heywood has taught both anthropology and psychology courses and says, “ I believe it is important to see dialogue between the different disciplines in the Social Sciences.” Regarding Ashford in particular, she says, "I enjoy the enthusiasm of the students who are so determined to go to school that they balance full-time jobs, families, and many other demands on their time while still managing to take the very intense five week classes we offer." She lives in New Hampshire with her husband, dog, and an ever-growing number of fancy guppies.
