Dr. Maura C. Chaney is an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at Ashford University. She earned her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership and her Master’s degree in Education Reading and Curriculum from Grand Canyon University. Her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and her Secondary Social Studies teaching certification were both achieved at Colorado State University. Dr. Chaney taught part time at Front Range Community College for three years before coming to Ashford. She was also a leading educator within Colorado’s Poudre School District (PSD), serving on curriculum assessment teams and establishing pacing guides and common assessments for social studies. During the 2008-09 school year, she received a student nomination for the Most Influential Teacher Award. Dr. Chaney says, “I’m eager to bring my fervor for teaching and excitement for learning to the students at Ashford University!” In her spare time, she enjoys sky-diving and has hiked most of the 14’ers (high peaks) in Colorado.
