Ashford Announces Agreement with Sauk Valley CC

Students interested in earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration can accomplish it much more smoothly now, thanks to a new articulation agreement between Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL and Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa.

Now, either accounting or business majors at Sauk may transfer up to 90 credit hours to Ashford, then complete the last 30 hours for a bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting.

“This opens new doors for students that are or have ever been interested in obtaining a bachelor’s degree in business or accounting,” said SVCC President Dr. George Mihel. “We have an excellent articulation agreement with Ashford University and this new program adds to that.”

Those students interested in a bachelor’s degree in business administration would complete course requirements for an associate in science and an associate in applied science in marketing and management at Sauk, then complete requirements for Ashford’s business program. Those interested in a bachelor’s degree in accounting would satisfy course requirements for an associate in science and associate in applied science in accounting from Sauk and requirements for Ashford’s business program. These “90-30 dual admission agreements” outline the specific courses Sauk students need to transfer to Ashford.

Dr. Charlie Minnick, Ashford’s dean of business and professional studies, explained that Ashford will work closely with Sauk’s transfer advisors and faculty to make sure students know exactly what courses they will need to take at Sauk for a seamless transition to Ashford.

“We wanted to make sure that Sauk’s faculty, administration and staff were all involved to make sure that we did programs that would be most beneficial to their students,” said Dr. Minnick.
