Ashford Student Wins Awards at Conference

Jason Ohda, an Ashford University student from Walnut, IL, was among the competition winners at the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) national leadership conference in Orlando, FL on June 23-26.

During the conference's competitions, Ohda took first place in the financial concepts category and second place in economic decision making and analysis. He won $600 in prize money.

According to professor Diane Cornilsen, Ashford University's PBL advisor, Ohda is the first student from the institution to win at a national competition. "I look forward to more excitement on stage next year as our students gear up for more academic competition," she said.

Cornilsen accompanied six Ashford students to the Florida conference.

PBL is a national organization for students interested in pursuing a business career, however, membership is not exclusive to business majors.
