Clinton City Council Approves Renaming Riverview Stadium to Ashford University Field

September 30, 2011 – On September 27, the Clinton City Council approved a partnership between Ashford University and the Clinton LumberKings (Midwest League affiliate of the Seattle Mariners) that will change the name of Riverview Stadium to Ashford University Field.

The transition to Ashford University Field will take effect October 1, 2011.

"We are very fortunate to have Ashford University as our naming rights partner," said Ted Tornow, general manager of Clinton LumberKings Professional Baseball Club. "They have provided the entire community with so many positive things, and this is the start of what we anticipate being a very long and solid future for both of our respective organizations."

Ashford University will continue to use the stadium for approximately 14 of its baseball team's regular season games, and may also use it for future Ashford graduation ceremonies.

"We are excited to partner with the LumberKings and the City of Clinton," said John Ballheim, vice president and campus director for Ashford University.

The LumberKings will begin the 2012 season at Ashford University Field next April.
