Ashford Student Receives National Scholarship

(June 29, 2009) – William B. Borota, an Ashford University student from DeWitt, Iowa, has been awarded a $1,500.00 scholarship from the Alpha Sigma Lambda (ASL) National Honor Society, the oldest and largest chapter-based honor society for full- and part-time students in the United States.

Borota, who is enrolled in Ashford University’s Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management program, was one of eight recipients from across the U.S. who received scholarships from ASL, an organization that recognizes the special achievements of adults who accomplish academic excellence while facing competing interests of home and work.

Ashford University has one of the more that 300 chartered ASL chapters throughout the United States.

To qualify for the scholarships, students must have completed 30 semester hours of graded coursework at their institution, achieved an overall grade point average of at least 3.2 at that institution, be 24 years of age or older, be enrolled in a baccalaureate or associate’s degree program at the matriculating institution, and have a financial need for assistance in completing the degree.
