Ashford University Supports Colorado Yellow Ribbon Events and Parade

Ashford University will sponsor downtown Denver’s Yellow Ribbon Parade. The parade and affiliated Yellow Ribbon events are a part of Colorado’s statewide military celebration and welcome home for returning troops. The parade’s grand marshal is Maj. Gen. James A. Kessler, USMC, who will lead the parade with Sgt. Jake Mullin, USMC.

A large contingent of current and retired members the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines will participate in the parade on foot and from the review stand, including military veterans of Iwo Jima in World War II and the Vietnam War. Also taking part are representatives of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Wounded Warriors, the Veterans Affairs Health Administration and U.S. Representative Mike Coffman.

“We are eager to honor America’s military, and thankful for this opportunity to support the Yellow Ribbon Parade,” said Mitch Thomas, vice president of Ashford’s Denver Online Center. “Each of these men and women offer to make the ultimate sacrifice in the name of their fellow citizens, and Ashford University is proud to join Colorado and Denver residents in this display of gratitude.”

Representatives of Ashford University, an educational institution owned by Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI), will take part in the August 11 parade, and Ashford associate director of admissions Bryan Farrell, USMC, will join dignitaries on the review stand. Event coverage will be provided by Denver and Colorado-based news and radio stations.

In tandem with the Yellow Ribbon Parade will be a veterans job fair on August 10, a memorial ceremony on August 11 just prior to the parade, and a veterans assistance fair afterwards. For more information, visit coloradoyellowribbon.org.
