Forbes School of Business at Ashford University Assistant Professor Named Outstanding Business Educator



January 16, 2015 – Forbes School of Business at Ashford University Assistant Professor Dr. Irina Weisblat has been named Outstanding Business Educator- College/University by the California Business Education Association (CBEA), an organization recognizing, encouraging and promoting educational excellence in business disciplines.

Weisblat was one of four individuals selected by her peers for outstanding teaching and service at the CBEA 2014 State Conference held Nov. 16, 2014 at The Hyatt Regency Hotel in Monterey, California. Members of the Monterey Chamber of Commerce, business professionals and educators from all levels attended the conference, themed Pathways to $uccess – Doing What Matter$.

Weisblat holds a doctorate in educational leadership with a specialization in postsecondary education from San Diego State University. She also has a Master of Business Administration in global management from National University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with a concentration in teaching, from St. Petersburg University, Russia.

In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate students, she has more than 15 years of professional experience in business, authored articles in refereed journals, published two workbooks on Entrepreneurship and has been contracted to write a textbook on International Business. She is past president of CBEA and continues to promote positive change in California’s higher education.

Weisblat believes teaching is a task of paramount importance. “Jobs in the 21st century require advanced competencies, work ethic, leadership, critical thinking and ability to innovate,” she said. “These are the core values that Ashford University’s academic programs focus on, and I’m honored to participate in fostering these qualities in business students.”
