Rizza Bermio-Gonzalez, PsyD

Dr. Rizza Bermio-Gonzalez is an Assistant Professor in the College of Liberal Arts at Ashford University. She has a Doctor of Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Forensic Psychology from the California School of Forensic Sciences at Alliant International University. Her undergraduate work was completed at California State University Fresno, where she earned a Bachelor’s in Criminology. As a forensic psychologist, Dr. Bermio-Gonzalez has worked with both adults and juveniles involved in the legal system, providing them mental health services and conducting psychological testing. She has also worked with police officers, military soldiers, and their families. Her specific research interests are in the areas of post-traumatic stress disorder, hostage negotiations, and juvenile delinquency. Dr. Bermio-Gonzalez has taught undergraduate courses at Ashford since 2011 and believes in providing real-world education to her students. She encourages them to believe in themselves and their ability to obtain a higher education. She says, “I am passionate about being a part of Ashford University and providing innovative, quality educational opportunities to adult learners.” Dr. Rizza Bermio-Gonzalez is married, with one son and two dogs.
