Susan Vellek is an Assistant Professor in the College of Health, Human Services, and Science at Ashford University. She holds a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Kaplan University, a Master of Business Administration from Capella University, a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from Warner Southern University, and an Associate of Arts in Business from Indian River State College. She has completed the majority of the coursework towards a PhD in Organization and Management from Capella University, and is working toward a PhD in Business Administration from Walden University. Professor Vellek worked for over a decade as a corporate compliance/privacy officer at a health care organization in Stuart, FL. She left that position in 2009 in order to teach full time. She says, “My favorite thing about teaching is working with adult students. I did not go to college myself until I was 39. I feel that adult students have more of a thirst for learning, and they are so appreciative.” Professor Vellek still resides in Stuart, with her wonderful husband and their two beautiful dogs.
