Searching for Jobs

Looking for a job takes time. Finding a good job usually means you have to network, because it's all about whom you know and who knows you. Before beginning your job search, here are some guidelines to consider:

  • Understand your strengths and what you can offer an employer. To prepare to interview in a manner that emphasizes your strengths and talents, complete this Strengths-Based Interview Activity.
  • Be efficient and stay focused.
  • Target specific organizations and companies that already employ people you know or can get to know.
  • Search for jobs by visiting the Job Search and Resume Builder tool link in your Student Portal.
  • Watch the Career Spot Video How Do You Get THAT Job?

  • Visit Mergent, which is located under Libraries in your Student Portal.
  • Check organizations' career sites regularly in order to apply for the latest job postings that match your experience and goals.
  • Maintain a schedule and keep a log of your activities with records of job boards, resources, and people who can help you.
