Ashford University Transitions to Canvas
Learning Management System is expected to enhance the Ashford student experience
Ashford University has transitioned to a new learning management system (LMS) called Canvas. Created by Instructure, Canvas is an open online learning interface designed to make teaching and learning online easier and more effective. The system allows academic institutions to develop, deliver, and manage engaging face-to-face and online learning experiences.
“Over the last 25 years, advances in digital technology have brought dramatic change to almost every aspect of our lives and it has certainly affected higher education,” said Dr. Craig Swenson, Ashford University president and CEO. “Our move to Canvas signals our ongoing commitment to remain at the forefront of advances in online education.”
Canvas offers a growing list of product features designed to improve the online learning experience, including a greatly enhanced ability to access schoolwork via mobile devices. In addition, the Canvas LMS also offers a course notification system and collaborative workspaces for groups to utilize. This type of capability will help students streamline the process of completing digital assignments. For instructional faculty, Canvas simplifies teaching by providing an intuitive LMS platform that is easy for educators and administrators to navigate.
