Janice Dy Named Ashford University Outstanding Alum of the Week
2013 Ashford graduate has parlayed her public relations and marketing degree into a position leading the marketing efforts for Flex magazine in Southeast Asia
Ashford University has named 2013 graduate Janice Dy its Outstanding Alum of the Week. Dy graduated from Ashford last year, earning a bachelor of arts degree in Public Relations and Marketing with a specialization in International Management. Even before she graduated, Dy began utilizing the public relations and marketing skills she was learning at Ashford to launch a fitness magazine called Asian Bodi.
"My final paper at Ashford was about the globalization of Asian Bodi," Dy said. "Because of the research I did at school, I was able to give that information to someone else, and they were so impressed about some of my marketing findings, I was given a great career opportunity. I'm really excited."
With her Ashford degree and strong knowledge of the Asian fitness industry, Dy caught the attention of Flex, one of the world's most popular bodybuilding magazines. She was asked to help Flex expand their reach in the Asian market and was recently put in charge of marketing for Flex Southeast Asia.
"This is just the beginning," Dy said. "It's really great to be able to take my coursework from Ashford University and use it professionally."
The Ashford University Outstanding Alum of the Week recognition was created to spotlight Ashford graduates who have used their Ashford education as a springboard to personal and professional success.
