There was never a better time to be, or to become, an Ashford University student.
Ashford University is embarking on a new and exciting journey as it pursues plans to join the University of Arizona’s network of programs and campuses. Upon completion of the transaction, Ashford University will become the “University of Arizona Global Campus,” an accredited, non-profit online institution affiliated with the University of Arizona.
While our name will change, our passion for helping students achieve their personal and professional goals remains as strong as ever. Plus, our affiliation with University of Arizona, one of our nation’s premier research institutions, will provide expanded opportunities for our students.
President's Message Craig D. Swenson, Ph.D.
“The alliance announced between UA and Ashford will create new, exciting opportunities that promise to expand the reach of affordable, quality higher education. The synergies that follow the affiliation of UA, a premier research and teaching university with an innovative online university like Ashford will benefit students, faculty, and staff members of both institutions. At the conclusion of the process, we look forward to returning to our roots as a non-profit institution and becoming University of Arizona Global Campus.”

Senior leaders from Ashford, Zovio, and the University of Arizona will continue the planning process for the formal transition to the University of Arizona Global Campus. There will be no immediate impact to Ashford faculty, staff, or students. Current operations at Ashford will continue unchanged at this time. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
The University of Arizona Global Campus will be affiliated with the University of Arizona, but it will be a separate university with its own accreditation, programs, and faculty. Leadership from both universities will look for synergies and collaborative opportunities to mutually benefit their students, faculty, and staff once the change of ownership receives approval from Ashford’s institutional accreditor.
There are no changes planned to the advising services currently provided. Additional information to assist students will be shared as the transition proceeds.
The transition will occur over the next few months as final approvals are achieved and when the transaction is complete.
The conversion to nonprofit status will not happen immediately, but the conversion process will continue to occur after the finalization of the transaction and once all necessary regulatory approvals are in place.
The university will continue to operate from the existing San Diego location.
