World Teacher’s Day: Students Give Shout-out to Favorite Ashford Instructors

Celebrating World Teacher's Day at Ashford

October 5 is World Teacher’s Day. Also known as International Teacher's Day, the annual event established in 1994 aims to celebrate the educators of the world and offer an opportunity for discourse around issues related to teachers and teaching.

The day also commemorates the 1966 signing of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which outlines standards relating to education personnel policy, recruitment, training, continuing education of teachers, employment, and working conditions.

With this day in mind, there’s no better time to honor Ashford’s renowned instructors.

And honor you have. When we asked you to share a post on Facebook giving a shout-out to your favorite teachers and explain how they impacted your lives, the responses poured in.

Thank You, Ashford Instructors

Here, we share some of the shout-outs you posted to honor your instructors.

“Caitlin Cressler, Nathan Stewart, Hemann Sweet, Julie England, and Barbara Zorn-Arnold: Happy Teachers Day to you all, and thank you for all you do to help your students achieve and reach for the stars - Tai I.

Dr. Newton Miller is an incredible instructor and encourager.” - Toni R. W.

“I want to give a shout out to Dr. Pamela Allen. Dr. Allen always has encouraging words and guidance. She shows concern about the success of the students. Continue the inspiring work, Dr. Allen.” - LatanyaCorey D.

“My shout out is to Dr. Peter Trzop. He taught me how to write using my own voice and thoughts. He also helped me gain confidence with his encouragement and direction. His use of videos made his class the most personal, engaging experience that I’ve had yet. He made me feel smart and capable of being able to be successful in a college-level learning environment. Thank you!” - Amy W.

“Shout out to Lisa Emerson. Made a huge difference for me because of personal issues and also due to hurricane Dorian. Thank you, Lisa!” - Lynn A.

“Information literacy taught by Instructor Lani Draper. She was so helpful when I needed clarification and replied almost immediately. Her feedback was always so constructive and she was caring toward all of her students. She has been my favorite so far in my 18 credits earned.”  - Miranda Mathews

William Davis is INCREDIBLE! He was a great encouragement to me!” - Toni Ramey Webster

“A special thank you to Professor Erin Reaume. She helped me so much while I was in her GEN 103 class. I was having a very tough time with my personal life. She gave support and guidance and helped me to find the strength to endure. Thank you, Prof. Reaume.” - Sst Blais

“Eva Harkness. She was my last professor while getting my master’s, and she was so helpful, understanding, and generous, I’ll never forget her or the class either!!” - Victoria H.
