Dr. LaTonya is an Associate Professor in the College of Health, Human Services, and Science at Ashford University. She serves as Lead Faculty in the RN-BSN program. Dr. Santo received her BSN and MSN in nursing education from University of South Alabama in Mobile and an EdD in Instructional Leadership with specialization in Nursing Education from University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She has been a registered nurse since 1997 and has a clinical practice background in community health, medical-surgical, home health, oncology, and neurosurgery. Dr. Santo has a passion for nursing and nursing education. She has taught face-to-face and online courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in nursing education since 2004. Dr. Santo has published and presented at several international, national, and regional conferences on various topics related to nursing education. Her research interests include alternative pedagogies, nursing education reform, technology use in nursing education, and introverted nursing faculty and leaders. Dr. Santo asserts that teaching is her life’s purpose. She loves to coach and empower students to overcome perceived barriers to meet their educational goals.
