Dr. Peggy Sundstrom is Program Chair of the PhD in Organizational Development and Leadership in the College of Doctoral Studies at Ashford University. She is also a management consultant to organizations that are experiencing transition and change. She specializes in strategy and planning, change management, and employee growth and development.
Dr. Sundstrom works with clients using evidence-based methodologies to assess needs, enhance management performance, build teams, and develop customer-focused organizations. She has extensive experience helping organizations improve their efficiency and implement internal growth and change, and a proven track record leading strategic planning activities, redefining processes to accomplish desired objectives, facilitating change initiatives, and implementing professional training and career development programs. She has implemented numerous research studies focused on service evaluation, user satisfaction, employee engagement, quality assessment, and market analysis. In doing so, she has designed research methodologies, written survey instruments, led focus group processes, conducted group interviews, and gathered in-depth information from individuals. Based on the results of research efforts, Dr. Sundstrom has assisted organizations with comprehensive process and policy review, and subsequent restructuring of service delivery activities.
Prior to beginning her management consulting practice, Dr. Sundstrom held various professional and management positions in academic administration and health care over a 20-year period. Her years of experience in both corporate staff and divisional leadership roles contribute to her expertise and understanding of organizational behavior and perspective. Dr. Sundstrom is noted as a developer of business training curriculum and was the author of volume five of the business publication series SmartGrowth Success Forum, “Hire Leaders and Managers.” She is a professional member of the National Speakers Association.
In addition to her consulting work, Dr. Peggy Sundstrom was a faculty member with the University of the Rockies beginning in 2009, teaching courses and developing curriculum first in the School of Organizational Leadership, and later serving as Lead Faculty in the doctoral program in Organizational Development and Leadership. In this role, Dr. Sundstrom provided academic leadership to the program and to the doctoral college, served on the Dissertation Taskforce, helped to develop the new Applied Doctoral Project Program, lead the Academic Standards Committee, and served on the Academic Dispute Resolutions Committee.
In 2007, Dr. Sundstrom was named one of Colorado’s “Outstanding Women in Business” by the Denver Business Journal. She was also honored with this distinction in 2003. In 2006, Dr. Sundstrom was named the “Women in Business Champion of the Year” by both the Colorado District Office and Region VIII of the U.S. Small Business Administration. In 2009, she was part of a team that won a national award for volunteerism from the Life Care Centers of America for animal-assisted therapy work with nursing home residents.
