I love working in the online environment with grad students at Ashford. Everyone here is committed to student success.
Alan Belcher, PhD
Alan Belcher has served as a faculty member and as an administrator, always with a focus on providing students with an outstanding educational environment. In the most recent years, he has worked with faculty and administration to develop and implement assessment – not simply the measurement of student learning but the use of the data to identify needed changes to the curriculum and its delivery. At the same time, he built a faculty development program and helped to manage the curriculum development process.
Over the past several years, he has served registrar and then as vice president for student services, with oversight for admissions, financial aid, student records, veterans educational benefits, and student accounts, and as assistant provost for curriculum and technology at prior institutions. He was the Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Pfeiffer and the Director of the MBA and MSL programs while also serving as Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. Alan is currently an Assistant Professor of Education at Ashford University.
His research interests include the analysis of evidence of student learning, the inclusion of high-engagement strategies in the classroom and quality faculty development.
Fun fact: Alan loves to travel and spent a total of 24 weeks over 2+ years in the Marshall Islands, the Marianas Islands, and the Federated States of Micronesia as a consultant, working on those countries’ colleges’ accreditation.
