Biography

Dr. Amy Johnson is a Core Faculty member for the Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education degree program in the College of Education at Ashford University. She earned a Doctorate of Early Childhood Development and Education from Texas Woman’s University, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Chapman University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing from San Diego State University. Dr. Johnson began her career teaching elementary grades in the Cajon Valley School District. She transitioned into higher education in 2010 and enjoys the diversity of Ashford students. “The students at Ashford come from a wide variety of backgrounds. They bring with them experiences from their childhoods and the classrooms in which they now observe and teach, and this makes for rich discussions in the courses. In my classes, all members are valued and participate as both teacher and learner. My students have much to contribute to society, and I challenge them to be independent thinkers and active learners, willing to advocate for the children and families they serve.” Dr. Johnson lives in the Ft. Worth, Texas, area. She enjoys rocking babies, traveling, and playing Spicy Uno with her husband and two daughters.
