Dr. Chris Sorensen serves as a Program Chair and Assistant Professor in the College of Education at Ashford University. He earned his Ph.D. from University of South Florida (USF) in the area of Instructional Technology. Prior to earning his Ph.D., Dr. Sorensen earned his B.S. in Biology from USF and his M.A. in Teaching from Florida Southern College. Dr. Sorensen began his career as a high school science teacher in 2005 and has been involved in higher education since 2011. In addition to teaching courses at Ashford University, he is actively involved in course design and program development. He believes that technology has the ability to engage learners, making them more active participants in the teaching and learning process. Dr. Sorensen also maintains that all individuals have the ability to learn and that learning is a life-long process. He says, “One of my favorite things about being in the field of education is helping others to acquire new knowledge and skills.” Dr. Sorensen currently lives in the Tampa Florida area and enjoys playing tennis, practicing yoga, traveling, and visiting the Disney theme parks as often as he can.
