Jackie W. Kyger, EdD
Dr. Jackie W. Kyger is a Professor in the Master of Education program in the College of Education at Ashford University. He obtained a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University at Kingsville, a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from the University of Texas at Brownsville. He holds a Graduate certificate in Library Science from the University of North Texas as well as one in Information Systems from Keller Graduate School of Management. Dr. Kyger is a Certified Professional Manager, and a retired Military officer of the U.S. Coast Guard. He has worked in secondary education and university levels as a teacher and an administrator. He serves the university as a lead faculty member, military student liaison, Faculty Senator, and former chair of the Faculty Welfare committee. As well as teaching students, he is a faculty mentor and coach where he serves on the College of Education’s Professional Development team.
Dr. Kyger is the recipient of the Ashford University President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and the College of Education Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Dr. Kyger enjoys the enthusiasm Ashford students have for learning and says, “My teaching style is geared toward the adult learner, but simply put, all students can learn.” He resides in South Texas with his wife, who is also a teacher.
