Dr. Maureen Lienau is the Program Chair for the Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Studies in the College of Education at Ashford University. She holds a PhD in Education with an emphasis in Student Development, Curriculum Development, and Organizational Sociology, a Master’s degree in Counseling, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Work from The University of Iowa. Dr. Lienau has over 25 years experience teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. She has been working for Ashford since 2006, originally teaching undergraduate courses in psychology and now instructing graduate-level courses in education. She loves to see students understanding the course concepts and then applying and extending that knowledge beyond the assignments because they have the desire and passion to learn more. She says, “When I see how students have taken the course concepts and applied them to their own lives, it shows me how important life-long learning is and how online education can reach all learners.” Dr. Lienau is an international traveler, an animal lover, and a dark chocolate lover. She is originally from Clinton, IA and now resides in Denver, CO with two four-legged family members.
