Dr. Daniel Villa is an Assistant Professor in Ashford’s College of Health, Human Services, and Science. He received his PhD in Social Welfare from the University of California at Berkeley. He also holds an MSW in Social Welfare from Berkeley in addition to an MA in Health and Behavior Studies with a specialization in Health Education from Columbia University. Prior to his tenure at Ashford, he served in various capacities in the health and human services field, such as an adult day health care program director, geriatric social worker, and health educator at Planned Parenthood. His strengths-based approach to teaching comes from his years as a social worker and health educator. “I believe that facilitating individual success is about building upon what a person does well, while supporting their efforts to enhance their learning experience both in and out of the classroom. Teaching at Ashford has given me the opportunity to continue my own pursuit of lifelong learning through the lessons, experiences, and values shared by the diverse students that I am fortunate to work with.” Dr. Villa was born and raised in Orange County, CA, and currently lives in Costa Mesa, CA.
