Dr. Bakuzonis is Program Chair of the Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management and the Master of Science in Health Informatics and Analytics at Ashford University. She earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Florida. She also holds a Master of Science in Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia/ Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Records Administration. Professionally, Dr. Bakuzonis’ career has included such roles as Department Director, consultant for long-term care and ambulatory care, administrator, faculty member, and Co-Director of an External Quality Review Organization. She is a member of the Board of the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education. She loves analyzing data, curriculum development, and preparation for accreditation. For all her students, Dr. Bakuzonis strives to be memorable so that they will use what they’ve learned when tackling problems in their new profession. She says she likes this quotation from Robert Frost: “I am not a teacher, but an awakener.” Our courses are online, but students are not alone. Dr. Bakuzonis lives in Gainesville, FL.
