Dr. Steven Brownson is an Assistant Professor in the College of Liberal Arts at Ashford University. He has taught online for 17 years and onsite for 23 years in higher education for several universities in education, history, psychology, and general studies programs. He holds his doctorate in Instructional Design and Online Learning with an emphasis on using multimedia and improving student interactivity in online courses from Capella University. His MA in Education is from Cal State Dominguez Hills, and his BA in Political Science is from UCLA. He worked as a K-12 teacher for 23 years and earned a National Board Credential in English as a New Language. At Ashford, Dr. Brownson emphasizes building a community of learners as well embedding multimedia and interactive learning in the assignments for his students. His research interests include language acquisition, multimedia usage, online student interactivity/retention, and educational reform.
