Above and Beyond – Ashford’s Honors College

What is it that distinguishes you from your classmates across the globe? Be it service, employment history, activism, or academic accolades, it’s important (although uncomfortable at times) to celebrate what makes us stand out in the crowd. This July, the PAWs team met up with Dr. Eric Klein to learn more about the Honors College and this exciting opportunity to elevate your degree at Ashford.

To kick off this month’s exploration, Dr. Klein, Dean of the Honors College, shares some high-level insights, “The Ashford University Honors College offers enriched interdisciplinary courses and special co-curricular opportunities designed for academically prepared and motivated students.”

What does that look like in the learning environment? “Classes are small, uniquely interactive, and are focused on promoting leadership, innovation, global perspective, and civic responsibility,” shares Dr. Klein.

Before we get too far off topic, back to the celebrating! Dr. Klein, who attends every commencement, leaves us with a look at the finish line, “Upon graduation, students have a special Honors College designation noted on their transcripts and diploma, which helps students to demonstrate high levels of motivation and achievement to prospective employers.”

For more information about the Honors College and to learn how you can apply, check out this month’s video. And wherever you are in your educational journey, we challenge you to use this opportunity to reflect on your accomplishments and to set your sights on becoming a member of the Honors College at Ashford University.
