Dr. Jan Tucker is an Assistant Professor in the College of Business and Professional Studies at Ashford University, where she started as Associate Faculty in 2007, and currently focuses on teaching courses in managerial marketing and economics. Her research interests include the integration of technology in education, competency-based education, and disruptive innovation in higher education. She earned a PhD in Business Administration from Northcentral University in Prescott Valley, AZ, and an MBA in Business Administration from Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, FL. On teaching at Ashford, she says, “I love the asynchronous environment and finding ways to incorporate multi-media in the online classroom. I enjoy bringing current events into the classroom and promoting critical thinking in the discussion forums.” She advises students to take advantage of the resources available, such as the Ashford Writing Center, the Library, and the Writing Reviser, and to ask questions as they have them! She currently lives in Tampa, FL with her husband, who has recently retired from the Federal Aviation Administration. They have two sons in college, one studying chemical engineering and the other chemistry. In her spare time she enjoys boating, fishing, and scuba diving with her family.
