In the online environment, you get to watch each student develop and still get to see whenever they get something.
Omar Parks, DBA
Dr. Omar Parks is an Assistant Professor in the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University. He holds a Doctorate of Business Administration in Management from Argosy University, a Master of Arts in Education in Adult Education and Distance Learning from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre and Dance from the University of Wyoming. He believes his doctorate program taught him the importance of being detailed and deliberate with students, as well as making the most of using real-world scenarios as teaching tools. He says, “It’s fine to challenge students, but you must give them the resources and background to be successful. In the online environment, you get to watch each student develop and still get to see whenever they get something. My favorite part of teaching is watching students reach their ‘aha’ moments.” Dr. Parks lives in Eau Claire, WI. He encourages students to remember that academic programs aren’t races. Instead of rushing to get through, he hopes they’ll savor their time in school while trying to learn as much as they can.
Drs. Omar Parks and Andree Swanson, Assistant Professors, Forbes School of Business had a publication accepted in July 2014 entitled Student engagement, e-connectivity, and creating relationships in the online classroom. This publication was presented at the 17th Annual Missouri Distance Learning Conference and Membership Meeting held in Kansas City, MO on July 17, 2014.
