Patricia A. Ryan, MPA, PhD

Dr. Patricia A. Ryan is the Program Chair and an Associate Professor of the Bachelor of Arts in Service Management in the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University. She formerly served as the Interim Executive Dean of the School, and prior to that she was Associate Dean and Associate Professor and Chair of Marketing and Strategic Management. She was also instrumental in the creation and development of Ashford University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) and was appointed to the position of Chair by the Provost. She holds a BA in Psychology from Siena College, a MA in Public Administration from California State University, Northridge, and a PhD in Business specializing in Organization and Management from Capella University. With over 25 years of corporate experience in the banking/finance, insurance/securities, and technology sectors, her roles and responsibilities have ranged from staff positions early in her career to executive management for billion dollar companies in the latter years. Her transition from corporate to academia is driven by her desire to blend academics with real-world applications for richer and more robust meaning and learning. Corporate ethics is one of her research interests, and she recently presented her research on corporate morality at the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education’s (IACBE) annual conference. Dr. Ryan initially taught in the private sector, securities and insurance for Dearborn Financial, now Kaplan. She has also been an instructor for the Los Angeles County Community College District and Assistant Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
