Organizational sociologist Dr. Ronald Beach, the Program Chair for the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration within the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University, is a wonderful example of how distance learning can benefit mature working professionals. While progressing through a management career to the senior director level in operations management, he found the time to graduate from the University of Oklahoma Liberal Studies Program at age 47 before going on to earn his Master of Science online from Capella University and then his Doctor of Philosophy, Leadership specialization, at age 57. "I realize the challenge of working to support your family while having a hunger to learn more." His professional experience includes working at Hitachi Computer Products and as Director of US Manufacturing for LSI. Over the past decade, he has taught for several universities and now has his own consulting business called Organizational Leadership Foundations, LLC. At Ashford University, Dr. Beach currently teaches courses in Business Ethics and Social Responsibility, Operations Management, and Statistics for Managers. "I am very passionate about teaching and ready to use my extensive experience to help develop the leaders of tomorrow. While a degree will help someone get a job, their education will help them keep it." Once a reserve police officer and avid skydiver and SCUBA diver, Dr. Beach now enjoys volunteering and going on cruises, and is a Titanic history buff. He and wife of 40 years reside in San Diego, CA and Show Low, AZ.
