Nazila Safavi, PhD
My name is Dr. Nazila Safavi, Program Chair and Assistant Professor of Information Technology and Related Courses within the Forbes School of Business and Technologies at Ashford University.
I have worked as an industry consultant and instructor in the fields of Information Technology, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. My earned PhD is in the field of Information Technology. I have completed my undergraduate studies in Computer Science at Oxford Brooks University, Oxford, England; and earned MS in Telecommunications at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas.
Currently serving as a program chair for the TECH program, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) mainly involved in curriculum development and teaching assignments at the Forbes School of Business & Technologies here at Ashford University.
In the past I have served at the University of California Irvine as well as National University and University of La Verne, where I have also contributed as a member of advisory committee and program and course developer.
My practical and industry experiences include serving to some of the world's leading Wireless and Telecommunication firms such as Nortel, Ericsson and DSC communications corporations. My specialization has been in the construction of Code Division Multiple Access as well as other Wireless Communication technologies with publications in the academic and practitioner journals; as well as work presented in industrial & academic seminars and conferences.
I have received a number of awards, and my favorites amongst all being ‘best teacher’, and the ‘outstanding teacher’ awards.
I am the only parent to my lovely boy Alex who brings so much joy to my life. He and I live in our beach home in Southern California. We like travelling and skiing.
I have been a Latin dance student since 2009 and enjoy attending Latin dance socials.
