Biography

Dr. Jaime Kulaga is part of the core faculty in the Entry Point & Social Science department that is part of the Division of General Education at Ashford University. She obtained her PhD in Counseling from Capella University, her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University, and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Tampa. She is a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida and a certified professional coach. Since 2003, Dr. Kulaga has worked in various areas of mental health, career, and education counseling. Prior to that, she ran her own full-time business (Mindful Rehabilitation) where she worked as a therapist and life coach. She has provided counseling services to a variety of populations over the years, including inmates, children, adults, and active duty military and their spouses. As a trainer in the education field, she has developed and presented best practices, policies, and procedures for startup programs and has applied her extensive knowledge on education and careers at naval stations in Florida and at Military One Source. She also engages in many public speaking events, most recently for Pfizer, the chamber of commerce of South Tampa, and Bay News 9. She teaches psychology, sociology, and human services course at Ashford and says, “ Teaching various courses at Ashford University has allowed me to work with students from their inception of college through graduation. I have such a passion for observing students as they grow in their writing and structure their academic and professional goals along their journey.” Dr. Kulaga encourages current student to never take criticism and feedback personally but to use it as a tool to grow and develop. To prospective students she advises, “Stay one step ahead of being on time.” Dr. Kulaga is a family-orientated person. She lives with her husband and two sons in Florida, where they often get to enjoy beach days. She enjoys traveling - she completed a study abroad program in Europe while an undergrad and encourages any student presented with a similar opportunity to do everything they can to accept the offer.
