Dr. Rizza Bermio-Gonzalez is part of the core faculty in the Entry Point & Social Science department that is part of the Division of General Education at Ashford University. She has a Doctor of Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Forensic Psychology from the California School of Forensic Sciences at Alliant International University. Her undergraduate work was completed at California State University Fresno, where she earned a Bachelor’s in Criminology. Dr. Bermio-Gonzalez has worked with both adults and juveniles involved in the legal system, providing them mental health services and conducting psychological testing. She has also provided individual and family therapy to police officers and their families. Her specific research interests are in the areas of post-traumatic stress disorder, stress management, student engagement, and juvenile delinquency. Dr. Bermio-Gonzalez has taught undergraduate courses since 2011 and believes in providing real-world education to her students. She encourages them to believe in themselves and their ability to obtain a higher education. She says, “I am passionate about being a part of Ashford University and providing innovative, quality educational opportunities to adult learners.” Dr. Rizza Bermio-Gonzalez is married, with one son and two dogs.
